4/4 White Oak—Don’t be fooled by the name. White Oak is darker in color than red oak. It’s also heavier and harder than red oak, but if your tools are sharp, it’s easy to work with. We sell a lot of white oak for boats, flooring and trim as well as furniture. 4/4 Select grade $2.95/BF.

4/4 Sassafras—speaking of boat wood, sassafras is used in boats because of it’s light weight and rot resistance. This northern grown sassafras resembles chestnut and red elm. Highly aromatic, I suppose you could boil the planer shavings for a relaxing tea after a day in the shop. 4/4 Select grade, $4.00/BF.

4/4 Native White Pine—1x8’s and 1x10’s, lengths are mostly 14 and 16 feet, but we can cut them to fit in your truck, van, or car trunk. Clear selects, $2.20/BF, knotty, $1.65/BF.

12/4 Basswood—3 inches thick. Our current batch is waiting for kiln space. It should be ready to sell in late February or early March. Select price: $2.90/BF. We also have a small quantity of 4 inch thick basswood. Select price $3.10/BF

5/4 Lumber—For some projects, 4/4 is just a little too thin. For example, stair treads (much less expensive to make yourself), wood countertops, large bookcases, and table tops may require thicker wood. We stock 5/4 in tulip poplar (also available in 6/4), white ash, red oak, and basswood. For prices, click on the “Lumber Prices” page.

8/4 Lumber—2 inch thick lumber requires large, high grade logs and a long time (and energy) in the kiln. It’s getting harder to find. We have 8/4 hard maple, white ash, tulip poplar, basswood, and oak. See our “Lumber Prices” page for prices.

1500 year old lumber— This lumber doesn’t belong to me, but the owner is willing to sell for $20.00/BF. There’s some red maple, a 2 inch hemlock flitch, and some white or red oak. It’s in the kiln but can be removed for inspection.
